James Patrick Peek, born June 30th, 1982, is son to Randy and Carolyn, brother to Ryan, Michelle, and Sean. James was sweet and active as a young boy, and - much to our frustration and enjoyment - a little cheeky as a teenager. Quick witted and always with a mischievous grin, James was a lively presence in our house and our lives. James had a particular fondness for big family get-togethers and was in many ways the impetus for our continued gatherings with family and close friends. His love of sports - namely hockey and golf - began in childhood and continued into his teenage years. We gather each year on his birthday to celebrate his love of golf, family, and friends.

James: your time with us was too short. But we miss you every day and

love you always, and you will forever be an important part of our lives.

The Peek family and James Peek Memorial Golf Classic Committee are proud to announce that this year’s tournament is scheduled for Friday June 17th, 2016. To date, the tournament has raised over $500,000 for mental health services in our community, which have gone primarily to the Mental Health Program through the Mackenzie Health Foundation.

Last year, funds went towards:

A new collaboration between Mackenzie Health and Alexander Mackenzie High School, which officially launched in December 2011 with an on-site mental health professional one day a week to give students appropriate access to mental health care.

This remarkable work continues to serve those who need it most. We are ever grateful for the wonderful community of support that has emerged with the creation of this tournament, and hope to pay it forward in kind by working to bring recognition to the many other silent losses and battles due to mental illness, and to do what we can to create meaningful change, together.

This year’s funds will contribute to that effort by continuing to support innovative initiatives in mental health services, particularly those whose aim is to increase access to care for students and youth, and to reduce the stigma that accompanies mental illness. We would be honoured if you would join us again this year for the 17th Annual James Peek Memorial Golf Classic as we look to new and creative ways in which to combat mental health issues and build and sustain healthy communities.

Thank you for your continued support!
